About Zion National Park

Zion National Monument was the original name of Zion National Park, which was founded by President Roosevelt in 1937. This National Park preserves over 36,000 acres of wilderness in Utah and protects some of the most incredible landscapes in the US. The sandstone cliffs rise hundreds of feet above the Virgin River and wind their way through the narrow canyons all throughout the park. These hidden river valleys have been protected by both the indigenous people and the early European settlers up to the present day.
